Opening Ceremonies: President JoAnn Rodick called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with opening remarks and the pledge of allegiance. Our meeting was held at The Moore Community Center.

JoAnn thanked Lincoln Ehrlenbach for serving as Sergeant at Arms, Michael Houlsen for setting up Zoom, Ashley Johnson for taking notes and everyone for helping set up and take down the meeting.  

 

Birthdays and Anniversaries: Tricia Quirk announced the month of September Birthdays and Anniversaries.

Rotary Business/Upcoming events/Volunteer Opportunities: 

Rotary Ladies Night: Once a month at 4:30pm at the Black Moon on Main Street in Ellsworth. An email will be sent out on the date, Please RSVP to JoAnn Rodick. 

Join a Rotary Committee: We encourage club members to join a committee within the club. Learn more about Rotary and how you can help!

Autumn Gold breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th at EEMS from 7-10am.  Set up will be Friday afternoon on 09/25. Kelly has provided a sign-up sheet. Flyers were passed around. Tickets will be available soon. 

Bangor Savings Bank Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive: Our club is collecting donations of peanut butter and jelly for Bangor Savings Bank. Please bring in your donations to the meeting.

RYLA: Weekend of September 18th at Adventure Bound in Northern Maine. The club is will sending two individuals to attend. 

Membership Night: Tuesday, October 13th at the Moore Community Center. Invitations will be shared with members soon.

Kentucky Derby Fundraiser Committee: The meeting will be right after the regular meeting tonight. If you are interested in helping, please contact Debbie Ehrlenbach. The next meeting is September 22nd.

DeMeyer Field Update: All monies have been raised and we are done with the project! We received $5,000 from Versant and the Bar Harbor Rotary Club and many pickets were purchased for the playground fence.

50/50: $6 to Marian Wells

Happy Dollars–  1st quarter Happy Dollars will be going towards The Bouquet Family. Rotarian Rachel and her husband are both fighting cancer.  Many Rotarians gave happy dollars. 

Polio Cups: Reminder to donate to Polio! For every $1 donated, 7 children are vaccinated.

Guest Speakers: This week’s guest speaker were Katie and Michelle, representing Wreaths to Honor Veterans – Woodbine, as our guest speakers.

Katie and Michelle shared information about the organization’s efforts to remember and honor our veterans by placing remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes at Woodbine Cemetery.The next wreath-laying event will take place on December 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

There are several ways to support this meaningful effort:

Sponsor a Wreath: Remembrance wreaths can be sponsored through the Wreaths to Honor Veterans Wreaths Across America page.

Volunteer: Community members are also invited to participate in the wreath-laying ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day.

The next Rotary meeting is September 8th at Pat’s Pizza in Ellsworth in the side room. Meeting time 6pm; can arrive at 5:30pm to order food. Our Rotary board meeting will be located in the same room starting at 4:30pm.
