On Tuesday, March 30th at 6 PM, our club had a virtual meeting over the telephone and internet via Zoom.  President Laura Pellerano started the meeting.
 
Invocation was read by Rob Hemenway.
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Rob Hemenway and Tony and Julie Bouchard took attendance.

3rd Quarter Happy Dollars: (This was the last week) Happy Dollars will go towards the THAW Fund. The Heating And Warmth Fund helps people stay warm and stay safe.  THAW is a community fund created in 2006 to help people afford heat through Downeast Community Partners.
 
The Heating and Warmth (THAW) fund provides emergency heating assistance to people in Hancock and Washington counties. THAW funds step in when all other aid has been exhausted.

  1. Foundation Minute: Lincoln Ehrlembach spoke about Shelter Boxes and how they make an impact. Shelter Box provides emergency shelters and other essential items to support families who have lost their homes in disaster. This month’s winner for the $10 Dunkin Donut gift card is Alison King! Congrats!
     
  2. COVID Vaccine Volunteering: Jodie Cushing has the information for COVID vaccine volunteering. The link below takes you to the Northern Light home page for volunteering. If you would like to help once the hospital gets the mass vaccines rolled out please click the link below and sign up with Northern Light.
If you do end up volunteering please make sure to send Jodie your hours.

  2. Blood Drive: Max Dietshe thanked everyone for their help during the month of March. He will send out an email to sign up for the Blood Drives during the month of April. Please help if you can.

Guest Speaker: This week’s guest speakers were Captain Andrew Parker and Jake Turgeon, both graduates of Maine Maritime Academy and currently serve on the Alakai (The Cat).
 
The vessel is currently at port Charleston, South Carolina. Alakai is a High Speed Craft that was built in 2007. Its carrying capacity is 936 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 3.3 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 106 meters and her width is 24 meters.
 
On February 1, 2021, the Province of Nova Scotia announced the suspension of the Nova Scotia to Maine ferry service for the 2021 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Andrew and Jake gave a tour of the Alakai during the meeting.
