On Tuesday, June 15th at 6:00 PM, our club had a virtual meeting over the telephone and internet via Zoom.  President Laura Pellerano started the meeting.

  • June 26,2021 - Kidspeace Golf Tournament -  We will be helping Kidspeace with their Golf Tournament. This event will take place at the Lucerne Golf Club from 7am - noonish. We are hoping to have at least 12 volunteers. Please email Jodie Cushing or Clyde Cushing to sign up for this event, even if you can not commit for the full time part time help is always appreciated! You do not need to have any knowledge of golf to help! 
     
  • July 20, 2021 – Private Charter Cruise with Linda Greenlaw: Save Tuesday, July 20th on your calendar from 6-8 PM for a Rotary Sunset Cruise on the boat “Select” with Captain Linda Greenlaw, author and owner of Linda Greenlaw Charters. The two-hour cruise will launch from Perry’s Dock on Newbury Neck and parking will be available at the Sea Shed Gift Shop at 1049 Newbury Neck in Surry. More details to follow with a chance to reserve your space.  An opportunity to reserve a lobster roll or chicken sandwich will be included during registration. Sign up with Ashley Johnson!
     
  • September 10-11,2021 - Northern Light Maine Coast Schoodic Scramble. Friday 10/11 set up and 9/11 tournament volunteers would need to be there 7am until 5pm. Shifts can be shared! Please contact JoAnn Brown to help out.

Guest Speaker: This week’s guest speaker was Chris Newell Chris is Executive Director and Sr. Partner to Wabanaki Nations for the Abbe Museum in Moneskatik (Bar Harbor, ME).  He is a multi-award-winning museum professional born and raised in Motahkmikuhk (Indian Township, ME) and a proud citizen of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township. 
 
He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the New England Museum Association, Tides Institute and is a current member of the Maine Arts Commission.  Chris is a long-time singer with the acclaimed Mystic River singers based out of Connecticut and has travelled the US and Canada singing and participating in cultural celebrations, pow wows, and live stage performance.
 
Chris is a co-founder of Akomawt Educational Initiative, an educational consultancy working with schools, universities, museums, and all areas of education to incorporate Native perspectives in a culturally competent manner. 
 
The Abbe opened its downtown museum on September 29, 2001, with permanent and changing exhibitions including the major installation of Wabanaki: People of the Dawn. All exhibitions at the Abbe are accompanied by a variety of educational programs for adults and families. The Abbe downtown location presents special programs for school groups designed to meet the objectives of Maine Learning Results. It serves the community year-round, while the trailside Abbe at Sieur de Monts Spring is open seasonally from mid-May to mid-October.
