On Tuesday, July 28th at 6 PM, our club had a virtual meeting over the telephone and internet via Zoom.  President Laura Pellerano started the meeting.
 
Invocation was read by Tricia Quirk.
 
The pledge was led by Carl Lusby, Ashley Johnson took notes and Tony and Julie Bouchard took attendance.

All Happy Dollars goes towards Forgotten Felines this quarter. They rescue and rehome Rehabilitate and provide assistance with spay and neutering stray and feral cats. They are 100% funded by donations and funds raised from yard sales and craft fairs.

Rotary Business:
  1. New Member Induction: Max Dietshe was inducted into the club as our newest member! Congratulations Max and welcome!
  2. Foundation Update: Lincoln Ehrlenbach shared his goals for the year. Our club goal is to raise $6,000 to the Annual Fund. Lincoln believes we can and will do more than that. He would like to see 100% club participation towards Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY). Those who donate will be entered into a drawing to win a $10 gift card! As of this week 18 members have donated at a total of $1,365.00. Gene Pellerano won a $10 Gift Card to Dunkin Donuts!
  3. Membership Update: Marian Wells reported the committee is encouraging members to bring a perspective member to a meeting to be entered into a drawing for a gift card! The Passport Program is up and running again this year. Please fill out the passport by July 31st of 2021 and you will receive a Rotary Vest! 
  4. International Update: Dave Wells is looking for members to join the International Committee this year. Please let him know if you are interested in joining. The Wheelchair distribution has been delayed due to COVID-19 to Panama. 120 wheelchairs are currently being manufactured. The Bar Harbor Club and The Bangor Breakfast Club are part of this project.
  5. Download ClubRunner App: Reminder to download the ClubRunner app on to your smart phones or devices. An email was sent out on how to set it up.  It is a wonderful and highly recommended!
Guest Speaker:  This week’s guest speaker was David Cole. David has served as City Manager of Ellsworth since August, 2015.
 
David also served as Maine’s Commissioner of Transportation and Chair of the Maine Port Authority from 2003 until he left state service in February of 2011 to form David Cole Consulting.
 
He previously worked for 24 years for Eastern Maine Development Corporation, a regional economic development organization headquartered out of Bangor, Maine, including a seven-year stint as President and CEO. While at MaineDOT Cole utilized these transportation and economic development skills on a national level, chairing the Special Committee on Intermodal Freight and Economic Expansion for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Organizations from 2005-2010, AASHTO’s over-arching freight committee, and serving as state co-chair for Federal Highway’s 2007 China intermodal freight scan.
 
David gave an update to the club about public safety and how our economy is doing here in Ellsworth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
