On Saturday November 19th the Rotary Club of Ellsworth held its annual food drive for the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. This year the club added  "The Ton of Turkey Challenge" - asking community members to donate a turkey to the challenge.  The food drive was a complete success, receiving $2,078.34 in cash donations and 210 Turkeys total!

From now through Thanksgiving, the club is looking for help collecting 134 frozen turkeys for families served by the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry. Frozen chickens are also welcome. For the purpose of the challenge goal, two frozen chickens equal one frozen turkey.

Turkeys may be dropped off at the pantry at 137 Downeast Highway. Hours are Monday 9:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Frozen birds may also be dropped off at Rotary’s Tuesday night meetings through Nov. 15. The club meets at China Hill at 6 p.m. Financial contributions may be made at https://www.loavesandfishesellsworth.org/donate.

Rotarians have been the leaders in the eradication of Polio world wide. Today’s walk provided 950 doses of Polio vaccine. With a 2:1 matching grant from the Bill and Melina Gates foundation that 950 doses becomes 2850! Way to go Ellsworth Rotarians!

This week at Rotary we had a Club Assembly where members were given an update from each Committee Director of how the club is doing for the 1st quarter of the year.

Thank you to Rotary club members for volunteering at the Schoodic Scramble! Not pictured: Bob Thomas and Kelly Brown who also volunteered.

Thank you so much for supporting Rotary at the Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, August 6th.  We really appreciate everyone taking time on Friday and from your weekend to help.  We also appreciate everyone selling tickets. The breakfast certainly was a success due to your participation.  An event like this brings the community together.  It was really nice having all the extra outside volunteers help! Early counts support over 700 individuals attending and currently we collected $6,600 in ticket sales with many Rotarians still bringing in funds.  After 3 years, we feel this was a great success!!  Thank you! -Rotarians Lincoln and Dave
