Our guest speaker Dr. Hamilton-Dick gave an update on the Orthopedics program
 
Opening Ceremonies:  Ashley Johnson called the meeting to order.  The invocation was given by Irv Hodgkin’s and we said the Pledge of Allegiance.  The greeter was Doug Kell.
 
Visiting Rotarians:  Betty and Dave Parsons
 
Club Anniversaries:  On May 2, 2007, Dana Reiter joined our club.
 
Birthdays:  Richard Dudman turns 98 years young; Jo Cooper’s birthday is May 6
 
Guests:  Debbie Ehrlenbach, Donna Coleman, and Gene Pellerano
 
Door Prizes:  Prizes were won by: Cindy Shoppe and Tony Bouchard
 
50/50:  Lincoln Ehrlenbach won $18 and donated it all back.
 
Happy Dollars:  The Auction Team 2 gets to pick the Happy Dollar recipient for this quarter. Giving happy dollars were Lincoln Ehrlenbach, Iris Simon, Tracy Shaffer, Dominic Efter, Dan Hurley, Laura Pellerano, Carl Lusby, Jack Frost, Chris Coleman, Charlene Churchill, Dave Wells, Pam Cushing, Scott Kimball, Marian Wells, Julie Clark, Lauri Fogelman, Arlyn Whitelaw, Jane Langley, and Peter Farragher.
 
Rotary Business:
  •  The follow individuals were inducted to the Ellsworth Rotary Club:  Debbie Ehrlenbach – nominated by Lincoln Ehrlenbach – became an Associate Member and Gene Pellerano – nominated by Jack Frost – became a member. 
  • There is an Indian Point clean-up project to be held this weekend on May 7th.
  • This is the last week to donate to the Ecuador Relief Fund.
  • Carl Lusby gave an Auction update and an Honors Banquet update.
  • The Bar Harbor Club is hosting a May 14th mini golf fundraiser. Please let Ashley Johnson know if you want to form a team.
  • Club members are invited to attend and open house for the Hills House. Ashley will email the information out to club members.
  • June 7th is Paul Harris Fellow night at Big Cats.  The cost is $17 per person which includes tip.  RSVP to Jack Frost or to Ashley Johnson.
Program:  Tonight’s speaker was Dr. Bruce Hamilton-Dick of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Dr. Hamilton-Dick gave an update on the Orthopedics program. Dr. Elaine Mau joined the team and focuses on elbow and shoulder surgeries. Dr. Peter Copithorne, total join surgeon, also joined the team. In two weeks, foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Paul Benoit will join the team.  Dr. Nick Vachon will also join the practice and he will focus on foot and ankle issues. Dr. Hamilton-Dick thanked the Ellsworth Rotary Club for supporting the Hospital’s work.
