Rotary Business: Everybody Eats is our club project for the month of March. Tracy Shaffer will send out email reminders to members with dates and times of their volunteer shifts. The Auction Committee is making progress and plans to send letters to area businesses next week letting them know the auction date and that a Rotarian will stop by to solicit a donation. Gail Thompson gave Carl Lusby a list of potential donors from the Blue Hill/Deer Isle area to round out the donors list. The Down East Family YMCA is once again the drop off location for auction donations.  President Ashley Johnson will meet with the SPCA next week to discuss their new addition and the grant we obtained to help them pay for it. Our next meeting will be a pre-St. Patrick’s Day dinner at Betty’s Hilltop House and will feature a Corned Beef and Cabbage Buffet.

Program: Erin Kerns, Managing Director of Eastern Maine & Hancock County Home Care and Hospice Team was introduced by Chris Coleman. She is a licensed clinical social worker and noted that most services with home health care are covered by insurance or medicare. She discussed many of the services her organizations offer and specifically mentioned Telehealth as an option that is becoming more popular. An electronic monitor is placed in homes of people who frequently go to emergency rooms for routine monitoring of their vital signs.  With the home monitor, their vital signs can be checked and monitored daily on-line by a registered nurse who can save patients trips outside the home to the emergency room. Erin’s hope is for patients to receive quality care at the end of their lives

Respectfully submitted,
