Program:

Vice President and Vocational Service Director Carl Lusby hosted the third HCTC Student Recognition and Vocational Speakers Event for this year. Each student was introduced by their nominating teacher and the students were given Chamber Bucks, a Certificate of Recognition and an HCTC-Rotary partnership t-shirt.

The two programs recognized were CNA/Medical Technology and Welding.  The speakers for the evening touched on these vocations and were Jeanne Magoon from Seaport Village
Heathcare and Colin Brock from Acadia Lock.

Jeanne spoke of the compassion and true heart needed to care for others when working as part of a medical team and Colin touched on several things needed for a successful career in
welding including the importance of learning from others, following safety procedures and being willing to use your experience to be part of teams that can influence industrial design.

We congratulated Ellsworth High School student Abby Welch for being recognized for her
excellent work in the CNA program highlighted by the remarks made by teacher Michelle Cote.

Applause also went to Solomon Drew from Bucksport High School for the achievements and successful attitude he displays in the welding program.  Teacher Joel Pelletier noted that Solomon already has aggressive career plans including being an underwater salvage welder.

Carl closed the program by reminding Rotarians that the April HCTC recognition event will be at the technical center and will include a meal prepared by the culinary program students.  Ashley
presented speakers Jeanne Magoon and Colin Brock with Rotary Speakers Mugs.

The meeting concluded at 6:55 PM.
