Opening Ceremonies: President Scott Kimball called the meeting to order.  Invocation by Rotarian Larry Fernald and we said the Pledge of Allegiance.

Rotary Minute:   Rotarian Jo Cooper share a Rotary Minute celebrating the way our club came together and made such a special event when Senator Collins visited the club.
 
50/50:   Rotarian Domenic Efter won the 50/50 and donated it all back to “Happy Dollars”.
 
Happy Dollars Highlights: Happy dollars this quarter will be donated to the Hancock County Sherrif’s Department to be used toward the purchase of a bullet proof vest their new dog, Finn. Rotary Business:  The following items of Rotary business were conducted:
  • Hard copies of the 2017-2018 Club Handbook were made available (the handbook can also be accessed online)
  • Rotarian Gene Pellerano share the details of his visit to the Waterville Club for training in the Rhoda Reads Program, Gene share the contents of the Rhoda Reads bag full of materials to conduct the program, and also shared that our club members can be trained for the program at our September 12th meeting.
  • Our Club will staff the Blue Hill Fair pie booth on Friday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with proceeds to benefit the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry
  • President Scott Kimball announced that the Rotary Brew Fellowship will be held in Town Hill at Atlantic Brewery on Saturdya, September 2nd at 1:00 p.m.
  • The Autumn Gold Pancake Breakfast sign-up sheet was distributed by Rotarian Dave Wells.
  • Membership Chair, Rotarian Marian Wells awarded a polo shirt with club logo to Rotarian Laurie Fogelman for completing the membership Passport Program for the 2016-2017 Rotary Year. Start your Passport Program activities today to earn your shirt for the 2017-2018 year.
  • President Scott Kimball shared that our club will be participating in Rotary World Polio Day by conducting the Purple Pinky Project again this year at Pats Pizza in October.
  • Rotarian Tracy Shaffer, Chair of the 2018 Auction spoke to the idea of canvassing Bar Harbor businesses this Fall on a Saturday morning. Club members felt it is a great idea and a date will be selected after consulting with the cruise ship schedule.
  • Rotarian Clyde Cushing, Community Service Director distributed two sign-up sheets for our upcoming Freshman Barbecue Project on September 5th and the Friends in Action Auction
Program/Speaker:
This week’s guest speaker: Yellow Light Breen, President and CEO of Maine Development Foundation, shared what the Foundation does and how they work with downtown associations to spur economic development. He also broke down some of the performance indicators that show how education and environment can spur the economy.
